Try to break down a dream I had last night: So I was with an old work friend, a non religious one, in my car back in my hometown. My wife and kids weren’t around it was just us. For some reason I was in the back of the car and he was driving. For some odd. Reason he was drinking a massive margarita while driving and fell asleep at the wheel. He crashed and I had to take over and avoid the police. The dream is actually set in a futuristic version of my old home town. Where the historical colonial are has been replaced by a dystopian shiny strip mall. At some point in lookin for or having intimate relations with someone I don’t know but I somehow force my mind to segue away from those thoughts. I’m actually unsure if that happens before or after the drunk driving incident. At some point after the sex I remember throwing up a prayer to cleanse those thoughts. The final dream portion continues in the futuristic environment where I look up at all the stars falling and trumpets begin to blare. I feel my self being carried at light speed towards the cloud thinking “thank you Jesus” and then I suddenly wake up.
Dreams often reflect our subconscious fears, desires, and emotions. Here's a breakdown of your dream:
Old Work Friend: The presence of an old work friend suggests some unresolved emotions or connections with your past. He is non-religious, possibly highlighting a contrast between past and present values or beliefs.
Hometown: The setting in your hometown represents familiar, foundational aspects of your identity and life experiences.
Futuristic Version of Hometown: This indicates a sense of change and transformation, possibly feeling disconnected from your roots or the way things used to be. A shiny, dystopian strip mall replacing a historical area could symbolize modernization or a loss of traditional values.
Sitting in the Back of the Car: This suggests feelings of lack of control or reliance on others to lead the way in some areas of life. The car may represent your journey or path.
Friend Driving and Drinking: Your friend's reckless actions might symbolize reckless influences or choices that are affecting your life. The margarita, a large and indulgent drink, may represent indulgence or distraction from responsibilities.
Taking Over to Avoid Police: Taking control implies a desire to correct or steer away from negative influences or outcomes. Avoiding the police signals a fear of judgment or consequences.
Intimacy with Unknown Person: This moment captures a forbidden or hidden desire, suggesting temptation or a part of your life you may feel conflicted about; the act of forcing your mind away may reflect a struggle between desire and self-control.
Throwing Up a Prayer: This act symbolizes a desire for forgiveness and cleansing, expressing guilt or conflict about certain thoughts or actions.
Falling Stars and Trumpets Blare: These symbols are often associated with significant events or awakening. The falling stars might represent a loss of guidance or the end of an era, whereas the blaring trumpets could signify a call to awareness or change.
Carried at Light Speed: Feeling carried away rapidly might symbolize a transition or transformation that feels out of your control, combined with a sense of relief or spiritual fulfillment as you express gratitude (“thank you Jesus”).
Lack of Presence of Family: The absence of your wife and kids may suggest a feeling of isolation or a missing aspect of your life’s stability and support.
Thankfulness to Jesus: Expressing this gratitude suggests a strong connection to faith and a sense of spiritual reassurance or redemption, especially after feeling remorseful or guilty earlier in the dream.
This dream reflects an internal conflict between past and present values, control and lack of control, indulgence and responsibility, as well as temptation and forgiveness. It may reveal a need to reconcile your spiritual beliefs with your life choices and embrace personal growth amidst change and uncertainty. By examining these elements, you may gain insight into aspects of your life that you wish to change or preserve.
